Explore the many ways in which culture influences parents’ child-rearing choices and daily routines.  This session provides an opportunity for caregivers to explore their own cultural beliefs and how those beliefs influence their work with families.  Discusses strategies for learning more about families’ home cultures and how to decide whether a parenting practice represents a cultural difference or an instance of abuse or neglect.

This workshop is for providers who are new to family child care or would like an overview of licensing, the USDA food program, insurance, contracts and policies.

Participants will receive two-year First Aid & CPR certification through Medic First Aid. This certification meets the requirements for state licensed child care programs in Virginia. Cards will be distributed at the end of class. A minimum of 6 people are required to hold class. Registration fee will be returned ONLY if class is cancelled. Please dress in comfortable clothing.
